PROJECT C “GENETIC UTILIZATION OF PLANTS IN THE PANNON REGION” (GINOP 2.2.1-15-2017-00042) HAS BEEN COMPLETED
The research and development and innovation consortium led by Törökszentmiklósi Mezőgazdaság LTD. implemented a successful project within the framework of the Széchenyi 2020 Economic Development and Innovation Operational Program. The project entitled “Genetic utilization of plants in the Pannonian region”, ID number GINOP-2.2.1-15-2017-00042, was implemented between August 2017 and December 2021 with the support of the European Union and the Hungarian Government.
In addition to the Consortium Leader Törökszentmiklós Mezőgazdaság LTD., the University of Debrecen, the Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences, the Gabonakutató Non-profit LTD. during more than 4 years of implementation, a total of about 160 research, expert and support staff have worked along 22 research topics. The main goal of the project was to establish the cultivability of species and varieties that can be adapted to climate change and spread in arid-continental climates. The industrial research, experimental development directions and subsequent areas of use prioritized by the project were: Greenland farming, Genetic research of crops suitable for arable use in sensitive areas, Phytoremediation and energy crops, Plant protection and IT research collaboration, Agriculture.
Within the framework of the project, the Hungarian research and development infrastructure was strengthened: the Knowledge Park and Researchers’ Main Plantation, the Greenhouse infrastructure and mechanical developments for the pre-cultivation of plants, and an irrigation network for research purposes were built. Equipment, research equipment and laboratory equipment were procured for research purposes. The research processes were also facilitated by the purchased materials, chemicals and low-value equipment. The project supported the personnel costs of the researchers, the cooperation of the researchers, and the use of special services helped to achieve the goals set by the project.
As a result of the project, a unique cooperation network was established in the Hungarian agricultural research and development sector, and dozens of new, marketable products, methods and technologies were created, which will increase their sales-increasing effect at Törökszentmiklós Mezőgazdaság LTD. As a result of the project, the amount of expenses to be spent on research and development at the Consortium Leading Organization will increase, which will strengthen the market positions of the company in the future.
